This was the moto behind the MSSM Friends “Murugan, Shivaraj, Sekar, Muniraj” Self Made Social Service Organisation. We are 4 friends who studied together in the same school and also lived in Somanahalli as Neighbours and worked as drivers in TITAN Industries together. I wanted to help the school, which I studied in so that others will not have to face the difficulties, which we faced in those days. So Murugan thought of requesting a meager amount of 1 days Conveyance salary of the subordinate drivers to improve the school, everybody willingly donated the amount to this school, But some one had to see that the money is used properly for the particular task. So we thought of forming an association to Monitor the progress of the task under taken with this funds by the school concerned.
 

We MSSM Friends Started the Association on 08^th May 1994. After we started service many other friend also joined in this association. And the Strength of the Association went up to 32 People. So Mr. Joseph Milton who was working in Systems Department Titan Industries advised me to form a Proper Organisation and register it, so that there will be no discrepancies. We registered our Organisation under Society Act as VYSWO Village Youth Social Welfare Organisation on 12^th April 2000. Now Mr. Joseph Milton is working in Reliance Industries Ltd Mumbai. Till today his contribution will be sent to VYSWO without fail. He was the first person to suggest a proper channel to serve the poor and needy.

We have adopted 10 Govt Primary, Middle & High Schools of our villages and provided them with all educational needs like Free Books, Pen, Pencil Geometry box, School Bags. We have provided Benches and Chairs to the schools. We have even provided Gas Connection to Anganwadis to cook food.
 

We have helped 9 children to rejoin School and make them study further by providing the all the needful educational goods. These children are studying from 8th to Engineering college. Mindtree has also adopted 8 children under Dream Reality Project.
 

We have provided Beds, Cots, Wheelchair, Operation equipments, and other testing equipments to Primary Health Center Pulikarai. This health center is supporting nearly 60 Villages of Dharmapuri District. We also help conduct Open Heart Surgery to 3 Girls of our village . 1. Ms Mageshwari open Heart Surgery was conducted at a cost of Rs. 1.2 lakh in Vijaya Hospital Chennai. 2. Kalaichelvi at a cost of Rs. 90 Thousand Jaydeva Hospital Bangalore. 3. Tamilchelvi free of cost form Medical social work Dept Manipal Hospital Bangalore. These children are continuing their studies.
 

This evil is prevalent in Dharmapuri district. On each Republic Day or Independence Day, we tour the villages numbering 15 located around Somanahalli to sensitize the population about the evil practice. We put up street play, cycle rally and procession through the main streets educating the masses. During 2002, Mrs. Selvi Manoharan, President of the Panchayat, and Mrs. Devika Rani, Village Health Nurse. Somanahalli inaugurated the rally.
 

Provided Tailoring Machines to run the Tailoring Training Classes. Providing Vocational Training Teacher for teachingEmbroidery, and Handicraft. From 2005 till today we have provided training to around 300 women students. They were trained when ever they are free to attend the classes.

TNF Sheep rearing support for SHG through VYSWO

We provide Rs. 2000/- at a subsidized rate of interest to the very poor women in our villages to help them to buy and sell live stock. There are 8 Women SHGs that are running this scheme very successfully. The loan of Rs 2000/- is to be returned after 6 months in installments.

Anganwadi Gas Connection ( KK4K- Klean Kitchen For Kids)

VYSWO and TAMILNADU FOUNDATION are the first to provide gas connection to Anganwadis. The first Anganwadi to get gas connection was Alagampatti Anganwadi which was inaugurated by Mr. P. Chandrasekaran Sec, TNF. The event was attended by Mrs. Poongodi ICDS Block Officer, Mr. Nethaji Bommidi Girls High School Teacher. Free uniform was also distributed to schoolchildren. The Next Anganwadi was P. Gollahalli, Inagurated by Mr. M. Chandrasekaran, Collector, Dharmapuri Dist. The articles provided were 14 Ltr Pressure Cooker, Stainless Steel Gas Stove, Regulator and 2 Cylinders. We have provided 12 anganwadis with all the necessary connection and equipments till date.

School Patron Program

Mr. Murugan M, Director VYSWO has been appointed as District co-ordinator for Bommidi Girls and Boys Higher Secondary School and Girls Higher Secondary School, Palacode through TNF. We are trying to provide the total infrastructure through TNF. We believe that quality education can be provided to all the schools. TNF is depositing an amount of Rs. 3000/- to all the schools. Every body can deposit Rs1000/- to the school and be a patron.

FOCA Bangalore (Friends For A Cause)

This is a friends’ circle through which VYSWO is being provided with free notebooks, other stationery that is distributed to primary school children in 12 Schools in and around Somanahalli. FOCA is also helping conduct free Tailoring Classes for women self help groups. Till today we have provided training for 80 ladies who have studied from 8th to 10th Standard. Many of them have bought Tailoring Machines and started earning their livelihood. FOCA also helps through exploring job opportunities for the self help groups, providing loan to small scale farmers without any interest, etc.

MindTree Consulting Pvt Ltd, Bangalore

Mind Tree has constructed a Building in somanahalli consisting of 2 classrooms with E B Connection and provided 2 computers. 313 students are studying and there are only 5 Government Teachers, the standards are from 1st to 8th. Rs. 40,000/- is being spent for 2 teachers every year. They have also allotted fund for toilet facility. Because of problem in accruing land the procedure is going on. Mind Trees support is a very durable and long termed. To teach English profusely they have also arranged evening class for teachers and VYSWO team members. Mind Tree Staff Mr. Partha Sarathy & Mr. Venkateshan, Mr. Abraham Moses have provided every thing to the success of tailoring class. Mindtree has Built Toilets for the School Children of Somanahalli. They are providing Higher Education who are stringently scrutinized by entrance exams under Dream Reality Project of Mindtree Well Wishers. They provide for their educational needs till they complete their Studies from High School onwards every Year. With reference from Mindtree Mr. Abraham Moses to Mr. Venkateshan Team Lease has Provided 10 Computers to Somanahalli School Mindtree has provided 1 UPS with Battery Pack.

Dr. Aruna Sethupathi, Illinois USA helped us setup School Library for Primary and Middle School in 12 Schools of our Village. They provide the educational material every year that is distributed to the needy children

AIMS & Dr. Arunasedupathy & Team USA 

She is one of the guiding light of our villages she through AIMS Foundation and has provided our village Destitute’s, Widows and below poverty line women with 50 Goats to rear this was provided free of cost to everybody. The loan amount should not be repayed but the first goat born to this goat will be given free of cost to others. This noble gesture was a welcome project to our poor villagers. This project was implemented By VYSWO to the Women Self Group. AIMS has also provided 4 Tailoring Machine to Vocational Training Institute of VYSWO Somanahalli. They have Provided Steel Chairs, Weighing Machine, Baby Cradle Stainless Steel, Cot, Bed.

Bore well drilled in Belluhalli School with the help of AIMS through Dr. Aruna Sethupathi. At a cost of Rs. 25,000.00/-. They have also provided Computer Table at a cost of 17,000.00/- Team USA has provided 6 Library Steel Racks at a cost of Rs. 13,000/-  to Somanahalli Panchayat Union Middle School.

 VYSWO has constantly supported for School Nurturing projects through which all the children of these schools will get Free Notebooks, Pen, Pencil, Gometry Boxes & other educational requirements. VYSWO has also provided School Infrastructural needs and Computers from help obtained fro Individual Donors.

Our Dream Project is to start Units in Manufacturing Beatle Leaf Plates. Paper Cups Etc. Manufacturing unit for Sanitary Napkins for Women and Children and Cottage Industries, (Like Chalk Pieces, Candles, Appalam, Agarbathi etc)
 

We work for the well being of our villagers by providing Medical care to them in each and every villages by conducting Medical camps involving the local doctors and nurses with an interest to serve the poor people and provide free medicines.
 

Awareness Programs to make the people protect the Environment By keeping their surroundings clean.

We have helped in getting Medical help to 2 girls of our neighboring villages by the way of Open heart surgery at a cost of more than Rs. 1,70,000.00/- Provided by our kind hearted Donors.


Current Projects

Established Women Self Help Groups to improve their economical status by bank linkage & give total awareness.

We are for the people by the people. Our Journey till here was possible only by our generous donors. We have worked With out any remuneration for our deeds but the love and affection of our villagers are more than a reward to us. Mr.Abraham Mosses of MindTree sowed the seed for this Community Resource Center. He came up with the idea of Sewing Class project to help the village girls. Thus this group was formed with his encouragement and the enthusiasm of all the donors, volunteers and the village people. We at VYSWO is trying our best to make this project a success.

VYSWO-Community Resource Center based in Somanahalli helps unemployed educated village girls to learn an additional skill to earn a living.VYSWO has started Sewing Classes in Somanahalli village which caters to the girls in the surrounding 12 villages. The Sewing Class was inaugurated on 21-2-05 by Mr.Yohim Butchert, SAP, Dueschland and Mr.Selvaraj, Bangalore. Village Panchayat President Mrs.Selvi Manohar, Ex-President Mr C.Krishnan, VYSWO team,Sewing class teacher Ms.Sangeetha, students and the villagers were also present during the Inauguration.
